    A Waiters' Rant

Caution: I'm a little tipsy after eating too much of chocolate! So this post is written in a sarcastic manner, nevertheless it might help anyone of us to be a better customer! Enjoy~

As a hospitality student majoring in Food and Beverage, I hereby going to share a piece of my mind to all of you out there!

The silent ranting of waiters had begun since human started not appreciating the good things people do for them.

    Little do you know,

But I say it ends today! *put on the Hitler look*

Here are the insider secrets about restaurants, from tipping to what days to avoid dining out and what will put you on a waiters black list.

This is a Malaysian-ized version based on the original inspiration.

    1. Avoid eating out on holidays, Friday and Saturday nights. The sheer volume of customers guarantees that most kitchens will be pushed beyond their ability to produce a high-quality dish.

    2. There are almost never any sick days in the restaurant business. A busboy with a kid to support isn't going to stay home and miss out on their salary(RM5 per hour) because he's got strep throat. And these are the people handling your food. :)

    3. When customers' dissatisfaction devolves into personal attacks, adulterating food or drink is a convenient way for servers to exact covert vengeance. Some waiters can and do spit in people's food.

    4. Never say "I'm friends with the owner." Restaurant owners don't have friends(some of the sad ones). This marks you as a clueless poseur the moment you walk in the door, sorry la, still no discount for you.

    5. Treat others as you want to be treated. Yes, people need to be reminded of this, and clearly most people are blardy ignorant, even the rich and educated people sometimes behave like that!

    6. Don't do that annoying "kissy" sound to get our attention, especially in a high class restaurant(if mamak, that depends which one)! I had customers doing it to me when I was training in the HOTEL! Good God! @.@ Remember, we have shears that cut through bones in the kitchen. ^^

    7. Don't order meals that aren't on the menu. You're forcing the chef to cook something he doesn't make on a regular basis. If he makes the same entrée(main course) 10,000 times a month, the odds are good that the dish will be a home run every time.

    8. Splitting entrées is okay, but don't ask for a glass of hot water and pull out your Milo 3-in-1 packet so you can make your own cheap Milo panas. What's next, grapes so you can press your own wine? -.-"

    9. If you find a waiter you like, always ask to be seated in his or her section. Tell all your friends so they'll start asking for that server as well. You've just made that waiter look indispensable to the owner. The server will be grateful and take good care of you(only in high class restaurant and hotels).

    10. If you can't afford to leave a tip, you can't afford to eat in the restaurant. Servers could be giving 20 to 40 percent to the busboys, bartenders, or hostess, but in Malaysia, is every man for himself, not that I want it to be, but I've experience being con by senior staff before on tipping, so I ain't gona share my catch no more. :)

    11. Always examine the check/cash. Sometimes large parties are unaware that a "gratuity" has been added to the bill, so they tip on top of it. Waiters "facilitate" this error. But typical Malaysian very stingy wan, sure wont give tips and left over coins ain't tips, what do you think we are, beggars?, what more accidentally pay extra, fat chance!

    12. If you want to hang out, that's fine. But increase the tip to make up for money the server would have made if he or she had had another seating at that table.

    13. Never, ever come in 15 minutes before closing time. The cooks are tired and will cook your dinner right away. So while you're chitchatting over salads, your entrées will be languishing under the heat lamp while the dishwasher is spraying industrial-strength, carcinogenic cleaning solvents in their immediate vicinity.

    14. If the person serving you is a trainee from a hotel school such as Taylor's School of Hospitality and Tourism, give them more tips because it encourages them very much, dah la kena buli from senior staff, getting a fat tips makes them feel as if they got a higher pay then the restaurant manager. XD

Hope you guys enjoy reading, original source from Yahoo news, done a little modification to the content, and there you go~ ;) Till then, take care guys and girls~ ;)

    Karangan Terbaik UPSR 2007

A friend of mine forward me an email one fine day, titled 'The Best Essay UPSR 2007'.

I laugh so loud, my mum thought I was high on drugs.

    Check it out! :D

    TAJUK: PENGALAMAN YANG NGERI.

Pagi itu pagi minggu. Cuaca cukup sejuk sehingga mencapai takat suhu beku.

Dia melanggar emak saya. Emak saya tercampak ke dalam gaung. Dia menjerit “Adoi!”.

Memories Of Term Five In Black And White

    -----------------------
    Whats On My Mind:

Finally, I am able to complete my flash back post!

This time round, I was quite caught up with a few stuff, trials & final exams preparation, and all these stuff made my mind very tired by the time I reached back home, hence the late update.

FYI, this post is written in several location and time, so you might experience "time leap" while reading this post. :)
    -----------------------

Important NOTE: I have a friend renting out a Single Room at Mentari Court, 16 Floor, RM 405 fully furnished+AirCond & Great Housemates. If you are interested please feel free to contact me asap~! Thanks! ^^

'Get Together Night' organized by DH 28 for DH 32

As I am sitting here on this beautiful Monday morning, waiting for time to pass till revision class starts.

I looked around the library, the feeling of unfamiliarity creeps up to my skin.

I remembered those PC beside me were most of the time seated with the people whom I know, as I entered the library last time, exchange of 'hello' could go from 1 end to the other.

Walking around the library for 1 round is a tradition which I practice when I entered its compound until today.

    Karl Wong

I would at less bump into a few people I know, but now its just merely just an exercise routine for me.

Then the reality of time came to my senses, its already 2009, I've already been here for 2 years.

I opened my hand phone calender, and stared in disbelieve, only can I utter 2 words...

    "Holy cow...!"

Chris cross dress during Law Presentation

Today, Giordano came and did a mini sale within our campus, its my 3rd time seeing them in the campus compound, they came on 2008 and 2007, its always during the mid year season.

I still remember asking Rebekah which shirt looks good, bought it soon after that, I'm still using it till today.

Nevertheless, we all know things are bound to change, I'm just sad sometimes to know things change for the worst instead of better.

It is still a learning process, every experience I've been through never one was a waste.

Term 5 was a very different term for me, we had just returned from our 2nd industrial training. I was very charged up!

All excited for the upcoming restaurant promotion project, me and my ever faithful blog poser - Ang Sio Sen,

Had the honor to be elected as Restaurant Manager & Assistant Restaurant Manager.

We tried our best to gather whatever lessons we had learned in our training and apply into this project.

Leadership is not something new to me, because of previous experience, but the challenges I faced was indeed challenging.

What I thought I could do, turn out to be a different story.

    Final briefing before showtime!

What I've expect to face turned its tide.

In short, pretty lots of bullshit la. :)

    I love this shot!

If you are the top runner for your school, you win the race.

If you are the best at 'Call of Duty 4', you pawn the noobs in Garena win the match.

If you and your team worked together, everyone wins the championship.

"Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships!"

    'Made With Love'

It was a good process of self-discovery for myself.

A lecturer of mine told me that I had the tendency to climb a mountain without safety gears.

    I asked myself, "am I?".

    Karl Wong again~

I know my vision can be really big sometimes, but I am certain and I know what am I doing and I do have plans to execute it, except if unexpected circumstances come into the picture.

If you have ambition, you might not achieve anything, but without ambition, you are almost certain not to achieve anything.

I don't wan to end up, sitting by the 'long kang' side one day, thinking what had I done in this life and only to discover I have done nuts.

    "do I look influential?" XD

Besides learning and getting upset, there are also many happy things during my semester 5!

Who can ever forget our friend's facial expression after having 3 guys and 13 girls surprising him during his birthday?

    "wahhh~!"

Unsuspecting victim by the name of Fandi

    3 guys and 13 girls!

That is a very big ratio difference.

    Some missing.. :(

    Nevertheless, we had fun. :)

Semester 5 was a season of birthday celebrations, not long down the road, we celebrated another friends birthday.

    Doreen's 20th birthday~

Overall, it was a bitter sweet semester.

Love it yet had second thoughts about it.

If you realized the flash back this time, the content is quite little.

Certain things just cannot be expressed by words.

    Classic candid shot!

I look back with just a sigh.

Many rooms for improvement, yet I could have done better.

Nevertheless, at the end of the day, I know there are friend whom will stand with me and slap me in the face if I ever go astray, which I find its the most honorable thing to do, and that is what friends are for,

And there are also "friends" whom will only shoot with their mouth but when asked to act, can only pick their nose and say "don't know" or "cannot la cannot"..

    Talk big no.1...

Cute college cat edit from Julian's blog(I haven ask you for your new link)!

    Why do we fail?

To me, because we can learn to pick ourselves back up again!

Steamboat dinner with Mr.Patrick before term 6 begins

After so much of hardship, joy and pain...

    We are graduating this Saturday!

    Viva la DH 28~

I'll work on the 'Term 6 flash back' soon(no more delays I hope)!

    Till then, take care! ;)

    Cin(T)a

Note: Load the video at the bottom and pause it if you may, then you can watch it once you read finish my description. :)

I had watch many films for so many years, short and long, from good ones to sucky one to weird ones and ones which I had no clue what they are showing at all.

On Friday, a friend of mine showed me a video clip on Youtube.

It appears to be a movie trailer.

    I watched that trailer.

It totally blew me off the chair!

I mean, how can anyone think of such creative ways of producing a film?

Really it changed my perspective on film making.

From the movie title itself, to the characters and script(watch the trailer!).

Gosh, I just cant find words to describe the awesomeness of the film.

Just by watching that trailer alone, I would give it a 10/10!

    Why?

    Here is my explanation.

The title of the movie is 'Cin(T)a', this is a story of a love triangle between 3 characters - Cina (the boy), Annisa (the girl), and Tuhan (God).

Notice the 1st and last letter of the title, 'C' - the boy, 'A' Annisa and the '(T)' - God.

The name of 3 characters encrypted in the title itself! And the entire title means 'love'! How creative can it get?!

Just talking about it amazes me!

I especially love the character description they wrote about 'God' on their official website.

"Is the most unpredictable character. Everybody tries to describe Him. Everybody thought they knew Him. Every art tried to figure Him. But nothing is really like Him...or Her"

My words are limited, why not you guys watch and judge it yourself. :)

    Sit back and enjoy!

A truly inspiring piece of art!

For all media/mass com/film students, or for anyone who have strong passion is film. I strongly suggest, this is a must watch movie!

Sadly, due to its controversial nature, the film is only available in the UK for now, I'll be waiting for it to come on South East Asian shores!

Rumors said, in the month of August, it will be launch in Indonesia, however, there is no news if its going to be launch in Malaysia or Singapore. :(

Till then, I'll further blog about it when I get latest info! ;)

    Original Writings

I was suppose to study for my French oral examination, but it seems that I don't feel like it, Prancis macam najis la... =/

Before the idea to create a new label 'Original Writings', I was finishing up my term 5 flash back, but I felt the inspiration was dried up.

I don't wan to update something that I did not do it with my full effort, especially a term flash back post, because I really put in deep thought for each terms flash back post.

Anyway, the reason I decided to create a new label on my blog, is to plow the ground for my to expend my creativity in writing.

This label will feature my own self written rhymes, poem, quotes and etc.

NOTE: THIS IS NOT A GROUND FOR ME TO BE EMO, BUT TO EXPRESS CREATIVITY. ^^

Now, with that line drawn, I'm going to post up something I wrote yesterday.

My 1st its going to be a 3 stanza, 3 line each rhyme.

Its inspired by: 'disclosed information' =3

A message with a thousand misses,
    Sealed together with many kisses,
Hope, please don’t shatter into pieces.

You are driving me up the wall,
Just wanna give you a phone call,
Hold your hand and walk in the mall.

Would this work out? I think it might,
Many nights I could not sleep tight,
Wishing this dream would take flight.

What do you think? Comments are of course most welcome, and please, negative comments also(if any), so I can improve my writing skills.

P/S: To a person whom can write a good story, you know who you are, don't ever stop writing, I am still waiting for your other stories! Remember if we want to move those mountains, we have to start digging them from the bottom, never let life or other stuff make you too busy for your dream, you are not alone. ^^
